Endure is an American reality competition series set to premiere on FOX on September 28, 2007. The show drops 33 teenagers — ages 13 to 18 — into the harsh desert badlands of the American Southwest, where they must survive the elements, compete in gruelling physical and mental challenges, and navigate the complex social dynamics of group competition. The last contestant remaining wins $25,000 and the title of Last One Standing.
The series is hosted by Cole Dryden, an Australian wilderness survival expert and former search-and-rescue operative from Broken Hill, New South Wales. Unlike traditional teen reality formats, Endure takes a gritty, unfiltered approach — placing its young cast in genuinely demanding conditions with minimal intervention, drawing comparisons to Survivor while targeting a younger cast demographic.
Contestants are divided into three tribes of eleven, each assigned a colour and animal name. The game follows a structured progression from tribal competition through a team swap at 24 players, and ultimately a merge at 6 players, at which point all remaining contestants compete individually until one is named the winner.
Premise
Thirty-three American teenagers are transported to a remote stretch of desert badlands in the American Southwest. With limited supplies, no adult guardians, and an unforgiving environment reaching extreme temperatures, they must work together within their assigned tribes — while simultaneously competing against the other tribes and scheming to ensure their own survival in the game. Each tribal council, the losing tribe gathers at a fire circle at dusk and votes one of their own out of the competition.
Format & Game Structure
Each episode of Endure features two challenges: a Survival Challenge, which earns the winning tribe food, water, or camp supplies, and an Immunity Challenge, which protects the winning tribe from tribal council. The losing tribe must vote out one of their members that night.
Tribal Phase (33 → 24 Players)
The opening phase of the game pits the three tribes — Scorpion, Viper, and Raptor — against each other in back-to-back challenges. Eliminations continue until the total player count reaches 24, at which point the game structure shifts significantly.
Team Swap (24 Players)
When 24 players remain, the three tribes are dissolved and contestants are reshuffled into two entirely new teams. Previous alliances are disrupted, and the dynamics of the game reset. The swap is designed to reward adaptability and punish players who relied too heavily on tribal loyalty.
The Merge (6 Players)
At six players remaining, all tribes merge into a single group. From this point forward, immunity is individual — won challenge by challenge — and tribal council becomes a free-for-all. The final contestants face a decisive last challenge, with the winner claiming the title of Last One Standing and the $25,000 prize.
Tribes
The 33 contestants are divided into three tribes of 11 at the start of the game. Each tribe is thematically sorted — Scorpion by brains, Viper by brawn, and Raptor by beauty — though contestants are not told this at the outset.

Twists & Advantages
The primary twist of Endure is the Desert Cache — a hidden container buried somewhere within each tribe's territory at the start of the game. Each Cache holds a Survival Advantage, which may take the form of an immunity token, an extra vote at tribal council, or a vote block. Clues to the Cache's location are earned by winning select challenges. Only one Cache exists per tribe per phase of the game.
Challenges
Each episode features two structured challenges. The Survival Challenge rewards the winning tribe with critical resources — food rations, water filtration supplies, fire starters, or shelter materials. The Immunity Challenge protects the winning tribe entirely from tribal council that night. Challenge types include desert endurance holds, cross-terrain navigation races, fire-building under time pressure, multi-stage puzzle solving, and water-rationing strategy games.
